Do what moves you. If you’re familiar with Swiftwick, you’ve heard us scream our tagline at the top of our lungs. But what does “do what moves you” actually mean? To us, it means following your dreams. Living out your passions. To Swiftwick team member Amy, it means racing a 3-week, 156-mile trail race in Nepal.

“Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to great places! You’re off and away! You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.” – Dr. Seuss

I love this quote. It means adventure is possible at any time. It’s all about making that decision to step out on faith and see where it takes you. In June of 2014, I decided to jump, to take that leap of faith, and throw my name in the hat for being a participant in the Annapurna Trail Race in September 2015. I took the step, sowed the seed, watered it and patiently waited. Late October 2014, I finally received an email saying I would be a great addition to the race.

Fast forward to almost a year later and… I’m on a plane headed to Nepal for an epic adventure around the Annapurna Circuit. I will be participating in the Annapurna Trail Race where there will be a small group of us, self-supported, fast-packing and running on the New Annapurna Trekking Trails.

I am beyond blessed to have friends, family and co-workers as well as work in an environment that continuously encourages me to do what moves me and push my limits in being able to mentally and physically prepare for this journey ahead.

I am tremendously blessed to be able to have the chance to experience such a grand adventure. The butterflies still get to me when I think of what we’ll be accomplishing over in Nepal. Besides just running, we hope to help rebuild and get our hands dirty. The race helps support Wide Open Vistas and their mission to help support the educational and health needs of disadvantaged children in Nepal.

“You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So… get on your way!” – Dr. Seuss.

Amy and her team started their adventure TODAY! You can track them on the race here.
