The Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati, OH, is an all-weekend, all-ages, pig-tastic event. Runners will dash through the streets of Cincinnati while also racing through parts of Kentucky such as Covington and Newport. According to the the Flying Pig Marathon’s website,  the mission is to provide a premier event open to athletes of all abilities that is dedicated to supporting charities.

If you thought this was just a typical run-of-the-mill marathon, you thought wrong. The main events, the half and full marathon, will take place on Sunday, May 3, but events are scattered throughout Friday-Sunday. Here is a breakdown of the different events you can participate in:

  • IGS Energy Half Marathon (Sunday, 6:30 am)
  • Flying Pig Marathon powered by P&G (Sunday, 6:30 am)
  • Wheelchair Division (Sunday, 6:25 am)
  • Flying Pig Toyota 10K (Friday, 8 am)
  • Tri State Running Company 5K (Friday, 10 am)
  • City Dash 4-person relay & Paycor & Business Courier Corporate Relay (Sunday, 6:30 am)
    • Leg 1 runners start at the same time as the other marathon runners – 6:30 a.m. There is not a separate start for the Relay Teams. Leg 2, 3, and 4 relay runners will be bused to their respective exchange zones.

There are even events for your little “piglets” and other furry friends!

  • Kids’ Marathon 26th Mile presented by EY (Friday, noon)- a one-mile event for school-aged children
  • The Flying Piglet Kids’ Fun Run,  including The Pampers Diaper Dash (Friday, 1 pm)- The Diaper Dash is for participants under age one
    • 1 p.m.- Mascot race, followed by Diaper Dash 15ft crawl or walk
      1:15 p.m. – 2-3 year old 25 yards
      1:30 p.m. – 4-5 year old 50 yards
      1:45 p.m. – 6-7 year old 100 yards
      2 p.m. – 8-9 year old 250 yards
  • The IAMS Flying Fur Dog Run (Friday, 1:30 pm)

And don’t forget about the parties. You will earn it!

  • Walmart & Sam’s Club ‘Pig Out’ Pasta Party (Friday, 5 pm or 6:30 pm)
    •  There will be two seatings: 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $20 for adults, $15 for children ages 3-12 and children under 3 are free. The Pasta Party is open to all participants, family and friends. Tickets can be reserved on the race registration form or purchased at the door at the tent on Schmidlapp Lawn.
  • Michelob Ultra Victory Party (Sunday, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m)

According to Shannon Russell of the Cincinnati Enquirer, overall entries are up 5.9 percent in 2015, and the 32,600 entries in the Flying Pig Marathon and its ancillary events are an all-time record. As runner participation has increased, so has spectator interest, with more than 150,000 estimated ‘street squealers’ cheering on the runners each year.
