Where to run in Orlando

Whether you’re in Orlando for some crazy vacation fun or you call the “Theme Park Capital of the World” home, grab your running shoes and Swiftwick socks and hit up these great running routes!

Cady Way Trail


Distance: 7.5 miles (one way)

Cady Way Trail runs from the Seminole County line at Howell Branch/Hall Road (where it connects with the 23-mile Cross Seminole Trail), over a bridge at busy SR436, to Winter Park’s Cady Way Park. Passing Baldwin Park, it continues to Fashion Square Mall then on to the trail end at Lake Druid Park. 

This trail passes through urban and suburban areas, parks and communities. It features some great shade provided by oak canopies, shelters and water fountains. The connection to Cross Seminole Trail makes it a great option for all distances of runs.

Blue Jacket Park / Baldwin Lake


Distance: Loop around Blue Jacket Park = 1 mile / Loop around Lake Baldwin = 2.5 miles

The best part about this route is you can make it what ever you want it to be!

One loop around Blue Jacket Park is equivalent to 1 mile. The park paths easily connects to Lake Baldwin, which has a great running path that circles the entire lake (and is always full of people, so you’re never alone). The running path around the lake is approximately 2.5 miles. You can repeat the loop or venture into the surrounding neighborhoods to increase the distance.

Downtown Orlando


Distance: 5 miles

This is a great route if you are staying in downtown Orlando for work or pleasure. You can add or subtract as you see fit by adding in loops of the lakes or opting to not go around them.

West Orange Trail

Distance: 22 miles

West Orange Trail is one of the top trails in Orlando because of it’s length and location. Fifteen minutes northwest of downtown, this trail follows the former Orange Belt Railway. This trail features beautiful scenery, bicycle shops where you can rent a bike, and plenty of restrooms and water fountains

Start off at Killarney Station, a modern take on an old-time train depot, anchors the southern trailhead. Here you’ll find bike rentals, restrooms and water. From here the route leads northeast through the quiet, wooded community of Oakland before hitting downtown Winter Garden. For about 1 mile the trail threads down the middle of two-lane Plant Street, allowing trail users to browse the shops and restaurants of this lively community.

For the next 10 miles the trail pops in and out of thinly wooded areas, occasionally passing orange groves that speak to the county’s agricultural roots. This stretch is open to equestrian use.

Beyond lies Apopka, one of central Florida’s fastest growing communities. You’ll soon cross busy US 441 along Forest Avenue. The trail runs 3 more miles along North Park Avenue before ending at the northern trailhead on East Welch Road.
