Looking for a new trail to hike?

A 144-mile stretch of a former railroad line will likely be transferred to the state by the end of next year for use as a hiking and biking trail,

“This new trail will bolster Missouri’s position as the nation’s premier hiking and biking destination — and strengthen local economies all along its path,” Nixon said.

Use of old rail lines for trails has become increasingly popular since the development of Missouri’s Katy Trail State Park nearly three decades ago.
