What all runners think about

It’s safe to say that on any given run—fast, slow, long or short—there are roughly 3,204 completely random thoughts (and emotions) swirling through our heads.

A new study analyzed 18 hours of recordings from 10 marathon and half-marathon athletes who recorded their thoughts aloud during their seven-plus mile training runs. The research shows that the majority of their thoughts were categorized into three main areas.
