Cyclocross races, PR’s, and marathons- our athletes know how to do what moves them! We are proud to sponsor some incredible athletes, and we want to tell you why they are awesome.
Our athletes do what moves them all over the world every day, but these three athletes especially caught our eye this week. See why we think Danny Summerhill, Jason Stine, and Zachary Ornelas were the Swiftiest of them all this week.
Danny Summerhill rocked the house and took home a win for Team Maxxis Shimano this past weekend at the U.S. Open of Cyclocross!
Lining up on the front row, Summerhill quickly took the lead on Sunday and set a pace that few could match. On a course that tested technical skills and strength equally, Summerhill stayed at the front of the race, content to choose his own lines and make the pack follow.
With two laps to go, the lead pack had been reduced to just four riders, including Jamey Driscoll, winner of day 1. Not wanting the race to come to a bunch sprint, Summerhill upped the pace on the front. Driscoll was the only rider to follow. Coming into the last lap, Summerhill went to the front again, “I felt confident that if I could get through the stairs first there was almost no way Driscoll could come around by the finish, just due to the technical decent and corners leading into the finish.” Summerhill’s tactics paid off with a resounding win in front of a large crowd of spectators.
Jason Stine recently ran his 10th half marathon distance race at the 2015 Akron Marathon. Nine times before, he attempted to break the 90 minute mark. All nine times, he came up just shy of his goal.
All of his training and hard work payed off this year. At mile 13.1, the clock read 1:29:47! Unfortunately, the course ran a tenth of a mile long and Stine’s official finish time recorded was 1:30:11. Even still, celebration was in order. Great job, Jason!
This past weekend, Zachary Ornelas took 1st in the Detroit Free Press Marathon! Congrats, Zach!
