Swiftwick Spotlight: September 25, 2015

By September 25, 2015Spotlight

Here at Swiftwick, we have the privilege of helping athletes do what moves them. We have a lot of awesome athletes doing awesome things, and we want to share these accomplishments with the world!

Here are this week’s spotlighted athletes.

Équilibre Raid Aventure, a Canadian adventure racing team, just completed Expedition Alaska, which consisted of some of the most beautiful, epic and challenging terrain on Earth. Expedition AK is a 7-day, 200 – 410-mile expedition in which racers must navigate their way through an unmarked route by mountain biking, rafting, trekking, canyoneering, glacier travel, trail running, and more.

The team walked away from the race feeling disappointed after a series of unfortunate circumstances led them to less than ideal finish. But what they accomplished was truly incredible!

They ran a half marathon, took on the longest continuous glacier segment in adventure racing history (20 miles!), tiptoed around insanely deep crevasses, slid down an avalanche slope, kayaked for over 8 hours, and completed over 100 hours of almost non-stop racing.

If that wasn’t convincing enough, we’ll go ahead and say it. These guys are all stars.

Matt Flaherty

This month, Matt Flaherty took a 24th-place finish at the 100km World Championships in the Netherlands with a time of 7:01:08, helping the USA men to 4th place overall.

Prologue Racing

Mark DeBoer and Alex Stephens of the Prologue Racing team traveled to Hermann, Missouri this weekend to take part in Dogfish Cross.

Alex’s extensive pre-season preparation paid off and launched him to two podiums, taking 3rd place both days which put him second overall on the weekend. Mark suffered a flat tire but still managed to fight his way to a mid-pack finish. Great job, guys!
